Chester County's Climate Action Plan

The Chester County Climate Action Plan was adopted by the County Commissioners on October 7, 2021. The plan was prepared by the Chester County Planning Commission in partnership with the County's Environmental and Energy Advisory Board. The Climate Action Plan provides a blueprint for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing energy efficiency at County government facilities and community-wide.

Climate Action Plan Update

The Chester County Planning Commission is leading an update of the county's Climate Action Plan. The Plan will refine the actions in the current plan to focus on priorities identified by the community as well as internal and external stakeholders. It will respond to recent trends in land use, technology, and policy, ensuring actions are relevant and achievable. The county's Environmental and Energy Advisory Board is serving as the Steering Committee for this plan update. Their meetings are open to the public, and meeting dates and materials can be found on the Board's webpage.

Public Surveys

CCPC issued two public surveys to understand the perspectives of those who live and work in Chester County related to climate change and its impacts, and what actions the county should prioritize to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to the changing climate.

Public Meeting

A public meeting to obtain input on the Draft Plan will be held in Fall 2026.

Community Outreach

Chester County Planning Commission staff and members of the county's Environmental and Energy Advisory Board attended community events in the Spring of 2026 to talk about the Climate Action Plan with residents and obtain input. The events attended were:

• Saturday May 2 — Sheep and Wool Day at Springton Manor Park
• Saturday May 16 — West Chester Porchfest
• Friday June 5 — Coatesville Strawberry Festival
• Saturday June 20 — Upper Uwchlan Block Party
