Chester County's First Campaign Recycling Event a Success

From November 6 through November 18, Keep Chester County Beautiful held its very first campaign sign recycling event throughout the county. In partnership with Recycling Services, Inc., Caln Township, East Whiteland Township, Uwchlan Township and the SECCRA landfill, residents were invited to drop off their campaign and yard signs to be recycled.

The participation from county residents was overwhelming! An estimated 1,000 pounds of metal from the sign frames and hundreds of pounds of plastic film from the signs themselves were collected and recycled, diverting these materials from the landfill. As a result of this effort, many have reported seeing fewer campaign signs left along the roadways than in previous years when no recycling options were available. Since the program was so well received, Keep Chester County Beautiful has already begun planning for sign collection for next year's election!

Keep Chester County Beautiful thanks the community for their participation in keeping Chester County litter free and supporting this recycling effort. Many thanks go out to the County's Facilities and Parks staff: without their help, this event would not have been possible.
