Following Up: 2022 Transportation Forum

The Chester County Planning Commission (CCPC) hosted the 2022 Transportation Forum — Trails, Transit, and Tractor Trailers on September 22 at the West Whiteland Township Building in Exton and via Zoom.
This year's forum featured an engaging discussion on county-wide transportation efforts and initiatives presented by CCPC's Multimodal Transportation Planning Division, along with various others.
Commissioners Marian Moskowitz and Josh Maxwell provided a warm welcome to the attendees, emphasizing the importance of transportation planning in Chester County.
In her opening remarks, Commissioner Moskowitz touched on some county initiatives over the past year. These included the Schuylkill River Passenger Rail Authority (SRPRA) — a partnership between Chester, Berks, and Montgomery Counties to restore passenger rail service between Reading and Philadelphia; the approval of the region's Transportation Improvement Project (TIP) funding to reconstruct the Route 30 Bypass Project through the Downingtown and Coatesville areas; and the future return of SEPTA's regional rail service to Coatesville.
Next, Commissioner Maxwell noted the significance of public feedback in working with Chester County officials to tackle various transportation projects and initiatives. He also discussed the county's Complete Streets Program, as well as the importance of bicycle and pedestrian safety and awareness through the Walk. Ride. Drive. Safe Campaign.
Presentations included an update on the Chester County Trails Master Plan by Steve Buck of CCPC, Public Transportation Plan Update Phase 2 by Alex Sankaran of CCPC, Building Better Bus Stops by Natasha Manbeck of McMahon Associates, Roadways — Transportation Improvement Inventory and Transportation Priority Projects by Patty Quinn of CCPC, and the Chester County Freight Plan by Kristin Scudder of the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC).
CCPC's annual Transportation Forum supports the "Connect" goal in Landscapes3, which serves to advance efficient, reliable, and innovative transportation, utility, and communications infrastructure systems that responsibly serve thriving and growing communities.
